Results of the Basic Training of Volunteers in Palliative Care in Andalucia

During the months of May and June Cudeca developed the project of "Basic Training for Volunteers in Palliative Care” with the aim of promoting the work of volunteers in palliative care throughout Andalusia. Workshops were held in each of the eight provinces, where participants gained and shared useful knowledge for the development of this type of work.

The workshop was conducted by Don Rafael Cía Ramos (Director of the Andalucia Plan for Palliative Care), Doña Susan Hannam Hodgson (Director of Nursing and Responsible for Cudeca’s Volunteer Programme) and Doña Immaculate Ruiz Torreras (Volunteer Coordinator).

The workshops also featured a space for local volunteer associations involved in palliative care to give the participants information about local activities in their province.
Participation in the workshops was very positive since a total of 227 people participated. The evaluation carried out by the participants was also very positive. At the end of each workshop they were asked to fill in a questionnaire that evaluated aspects related to the teachers, the contents and the methodology used. All scores were rated higher than average, with over 70% scoring the workshop with the two highest ratings.
