The Slow Fashion Show for Cudeca!

A FASHION SHOW FOR THE FUTURE,

‘The Slow Fashion Show’ seeks innovative ways to dress responsibly.

Local artist and producer Leon Patras has teamed up once more with old and new collaborators to create another fashion show with a difference. Following on from the success of the Steampunk Anti-Fashion Show in October 2019, he continues to seek innovative ways to highlight the costs of Fast Fashion and explore the Slow Fashion options available.

This is a call for all aspiring and established artists and designers who would like to submit items for the show, which is to be held on Saturday the 7th of May 2022. There will be four distinct rounds that explore different approaches to slowing down the fashion train:

  1. Charity Chic – Evening Wear
  2. Upcycled
  3. Vintage / Slow
  4. Steampunk

Please email submission entry queries to leonpatras@gmail.com by no later than Monday the 25th of April.

The social and environmental costs of ‘fast fashion’ are hot topics but they are also fortunately areas where consumers can take direct actions. According to Leon, “Slow Fashion is well-made clothing that lasts for years or decades. Fast Fashion is the cheap stuff you throw away after one season because of its inferior quality. Awareness is key. If we can just start being more conscious of the clothing decisions we make, we can collectively have a meaningful impact”.

Apart from raising funds for charity, the show also aims to encourage shopping at and donating to local charity shops, where the materials for the show are almost exclusively sourced. “The charity shops themselves are hugely beneficial in helping not only the causes they support, but they also provide a great service by recirculating unused items that still have life. They often have items with the original labels attached that have never been used before, and some very high quality clothes by respectable brands at a fraction of the normal cost.”

The event venue is a visual spectacle in itself. Artsenal Inoxis is a vibrant new art space in Alhaurin el Grande that was created as a platform for local artists to express their Art, in whichever form it takes.
The evening will include a dance performance by local artists DK POP, live music and DJs.
Outfits, accessories and other related items will be available for sale, along with food and drinks.

Tickets are €10 and will be available at Artsenal Inoxis and Papeleria Cristina in Alhaurin el Grande, or may be purchased on the night until capacity is reached.

Special Thanks to the venue, artists and models for providing their services for free for this fundraiser. The nominated beneficiaries are Cudeca and ARCH Horse Rescue.
