Lirycal concert for Cudeca

On November 27, the Lyrical concert for Cudeca, an opera and zarzuela recital, will take place at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella with the aim of raising funds for the Cudeca Hospice to be able to continue offering their professional care in a disinterested way.

The artistic cast consists of soprano Sonia Garcia, tenor Diego Morales and pianist Cecilia Martin. A repertoire of Spanish zarzuela and opera will be developed and the artists will perform individually, in duos and many other styles.

Thanks to the Marbella Town Hall for the use of the theatre under no charge and to Grupo Safamotor (Malaga) and Royal Pianos for sponsoring the event.

The tickets are already available at Mi Entrada. Price: €10

SONIA GARCIA-QUINTERO | soprano

Born in Malaga. She began his singing studies at a very young age with Maria Victoria at the Marbella Conservatory. She continued her studies in Malaga with the teachers Francisco Heredia and Alicia Molina until she obtained her Higher Music Degree. Chiara Migliari and Michelle Sburlati continued her training in Perugia (Italy). She did a MIAM Master's Degree in Singing and Lyrical Scene at the UJA with Susana Gomez and Julio Alexis. She has had classes with Coral Morales, Carlos Chausson, Francisco García-Rosado, Susana Gómez, Giulio Zappa and with the "Jaén Ópera Joven" collective.

Amongst her awards, the third prize of "Jóvenes Intérpretes" of Marbella-crea (2009) and the first prize in 2010 stand out. Special mention in "Jóvenes intérpretes" of Malaga-crea (2013). Finalist in Estepona-Crea (2016) and Second Prize in Marbella-crea (2016).

She has performed Carmina Burana (Orff), La Misa Tango (Alberto Bustos at the world premiere), and roles such as Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica-Puccini), Sussana (Le nozze di Figaro-Mozart), Olga (Katiuska- Sorozábal), Rosaura (Los Gavilanes-J. Guerrero), Lady and Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute-Mozart), Witch (Dido and Aeneas-Purcell), Serpina (La Serva Padrona-Salieri), Slave (The Jewish Child-P. Luna), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel-E.Humperdinck) among others, in auditoriums such as Maestro Padilla (Almeria), Teatro Cervantes (Malaga), Auditorio M. de Falla (Granada), Perugia, Ancona and Cammerino (Italy). She has shared the stage with the Compañia Teatro Lírico Andaluz, Compañia Teatro del Arte, Compañia Teatro Abulaga, Compañía Lírica Andaluza. She is currently a singing teacher at the Professional Music Conservatory of Alcázar de San Juan (Campo de Criptana-Ciudad Real).

DIEGO MORALES | tenor

Born in Antequera (Malaga), he began his musical training at an early age in the children's choir and at the piano in the conservatory. He later studied singing in Malaga until he graduated, with excellent marks, under the guidance of his teacher, Francisco Heredia. He has received classes with Carmen Solis, Suso Mariategui, C. Koch, Alvaro Ramirez and M. Mateu among others. A music teacher from the University of Malaga, he has furthered his training in areas such as stage interpretation and choral conducting.

He has performed titles such as Apollo et Hyacinthus (Mozart), Bastien und Bastienne (Mozart), Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), The Fairy Queen (Purcell), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), L'elixir d'amore (Donizetti), Rita (Donizetti), Hansel und Gretel (E. Humperdinck), The Merry Widow (Lehar), La Bella Helena (Offenbach), Cendrillon (P. Viardot). In zarzuela and Spanish music, he performs on tour with La Canción del Olvido (Serrano), in various 18th and 19th century stage tunes (P. Moral, A. Guerrero, Manuel García) and in the lyric shows Cantares de Ayer, Comedias Majas and De vuelta al barroco.

In the oratory he performs as a soloist Historia de la Navidad (Schütz), Mass in G Major (Schubert), Stabat Mater (Rossini), Magnificat (Bach), Coronation Mass, Davide Penitente and Requiem (Mozart), Magnificat (Pergolesi), Messiah (Handel), Stabat Mater and Painful Mass (Caldara), Noël's Oratory (Saint-Saëns) with a strong focus on chamber music and early music.

He has shared the stage as a soloist with the OSPMA and Joven OSP (Málaga), Camerata San Sebastian (Antequera), OCAL (Almeria), OUGR (University of Granada), OSHU (Huelva), Southern Youth String Orchestra (Lucena), O. Promúsica (Malaga) under the baton of important conductors in the Teatro Cervantes and Sala Maria Cristina in Malaga, Gran Teatro in Huelva, Auditorio Maestro Padilla in Almeria, Teatro in Cordoba, Real Alcazar in Seville, Roman theatres in Italica (Seville) and Malaga, Teatro Real in Madrid and for delegations from Portugal, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland.

CECILIA MARTIN - piano

Born in Malaga in 1986, she studied music in that city, receiving her main lessons from her teacher Daniel Abalos.  She finished the Higher Level in 2009 with Antonio Simon Montiel, receiving maximum marks in Repertoire with piano and orchestra and vocal and instrumental accompaniment. In 2008, she was awarded a scholarship to study for one year at the Josep Haydn Konservatorium das Burguendland (Austria) by choice of that centre.  In 2011 she will be studying a Master's degree in pedagogy at the University of Malaga. During her years of training she also attended numerous advanced courses such as the international course "New Music Generation" of the Katalina Gurska Foundation. In all of them she receives classes from renowned teachers such as Angel Sanzo, Jose Felipe Diaz, Claudio Martinez Menher, Guillermo Gonzalez, Stephanie Combier and Ralf Heiber. In 2005 she won the second prize in the Villa Nueva del Rosario International Competition, and in 2014 she received, together with the Malaga baritone Jose Antonio Ariza, an honourable mention in the Muestra de Jovenes Interpretes de Malaga. From 2012 to 2018 he focuses his professional activity as a pianist accompanying singing and instruments in different conservatories in Andalusia, such as the CSM Victoria Eugenia and CPM Angel Barrios in Granada, the CSM in Malaga, the CPM city of El Ejido or the CSM Manuel Castillo in Seville.

In addition to her work in these educational centres, she has given recitals in different chamber groups and as a repeating teacher throughout Spain in theatres such as the Garcia Lorca in Getafe, Gran Teatro in Caceres, Cervantes in Malaga or Kursaal in Melilla.  She has also travelled repeatedly to Italy as a teacher.
