Give Life to Your Clothes: Recycle, Save and Help

On the 20th April, Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice, presented its new awareness campaign "Give Life to Your Clothes: Recycle, Save and Help in the El Palo Charity Shop in Málaga. It is one of the projects planned under the Volunteering and Recycling project 2010.

Attending the event was D. Julio Andrade, Councillor of Citizenship, Immigration and Cooperation Development in Malaga; Doña Susana Martin, Diario Sur Director of Marketing and Multimedia; D. Francisco Galera, Agapea Financial Director and on behalf of Cudeca, D. Rafael Olalla, Deputy Manager - Finance Director.

Mr Olalla summarized the 3 aims of the campaign: raising awareness of the network of 12 charity shops that Cudeca has open throughout the province of Malaga, where they receive and sell used clothing and other items, which creates the most important source of funding for the Hospice; the recruitment of over 400 volunteers, who are the backbone of the Shops, and finally, above all, supporting environmental care, by encouraging the donation of clothing for reuse or recycling, thus reducing the waste generated and promoting more responsible consumption.

Mr. Andrade said the award "Malagueño Solidario" given to Cudeca is well deserved and will help fund future projects required to "keep giving life to days" to more than 600 people with advanced cancer. He also commented that in Cudeca "1 euro is multiplied," referring to the importance of the Assistance Programs offered completely free of charge both at the Cudeca Centre as well as throughout the province of Malaga. He finally stressed that although Cudeca has its Hospice Centre in Benalmádena, residents in the Málaga capital also benefit from its assistance programs, particularly the Home Care.

Thanks to your support and media coverage, we can raise awareness and funds to continue offering our "Special Kind of Caring”.
