Friendship Day with United Kingdom

The Beatles, Cliff Richard, Fish n Chips, Bangers and Mash, Pints of Lager…. What does this remind you of?  Yes, United Kingdom.
 
The Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall is organising on the 10th of May the Friendship Day with United Kingdom. The event will take place in Mijas village in the main square, from 12 noon to 6PM. This is part of a series of very successful friendship days that the department is organising with different countries. The next friendship day will be dedicated to Denmark in the month of October.
 
The new British Consul Mrs Charmaine Arbouin and the Mayor of Mijas Angel Nozal will inaugurate the day with the discovering of a plaque to commemorate this special day at the Mural of the Nations next to the Tourist office in Mijas village. The actor Robert Michael Maxwell, will be carrying out a recital of Shakespeare followed by Leslie Thompson on the Scottish bagpipes.
 
The stands will open at noon where visitors will be able to savour typical food and beverage from United Kingdom. Fish n Chips, Hog Roast, Cream Teas, Bangers n Mash, British Beers, Wines and whiskeys and lots more!
 
Also on stands will be a representation of British businesses on the Costa del Sol, as well as British Media.
 
On stage there will be performances right through the day from 1PM to 6PM.
The programme is the following:
 
13:00 - Performance by the students of St. Anthony’s School
13:15 - Family of Sound – Children’s performance
13:30 - The Silver Beats – Tribute band to the Beatles 
14:00 - Scottish Bagpipes and dances
14:15 - The Silver Beats – Tribute band to the Beatles 
14:45 - Scottish Bagpipes and dances
15:00 - The Revival Band – The best British music from the 50s, 60s, 70s
15:30 - Jive-Spain – Jive Exhibition and Workshop
16:00 - The Revival Band – The best British music from the 50s, 60s, 70s
16:30 - Stolen Gnomes – Live Irish Music
17:00 - Funky Vocals Choir
17:30 - Stolen Gnomes – Live Irish Music
 
There will be Kiddies Workshops set up by the Mijas Art Centre, as well as children entertainers who will keep the kids busy with handcrafts and games.
 
El Corte Ingles of Mijas Costa in collaboration with the Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall, will be holding on Friday the 9th of May, (a day before the event in Mijas village), different activities and performances in their commercial centre to promote the Mijas Friendship Day with United Kingdom.
Parking is not a problem as Mijas has 1 EURO - ALL DAY PARKING in the car park next to the main square.
