The XI Charity Book Market in aid of Cudeca Hospice

On the 22nd November, the Arroyo de la Miel Library organised their 11th Charity Book Market in benefit of Cudeca Hospice. This Charity project has been carried out since 2010 and has been able to attract, for the variety of books available, a multitude of people from many nationalities.

During the market, some of the people that attended were The Benalmadena Town Hall, the Mayoress, Mrs. Paloma García Gálvez; the Culture Councilor, Yolanda Peña; the Equality Councilor, Ana María Macías; from the library itself, Mª Carmen Martín, Manager; and María Llorente, the Market´s organizer, from Cudeca Hospice, Carlos White, Fundraiser, as well as the indispensable volunteers who joined us.

Thanks to all the people involved that have managed to raise 1.303,50€ in the market, and together with 875,90€ raised by the library for it´s “Tuesday Markets” since August bring up a grand total of 2.179,4€, that will go towards Cudeca Hospice and it´s assistential programs with which each year more than 850 people are treated with Cancer and other incurable illnesses in an advanced stage and also offers support to their family totally free of charge.

The amount raised would not have been possible without the dedication of professional people from the people at the library who have dedicated their time during the last months to store and select the most varied of selection of books donated by the Benalmadena Community.

This activity is part of the agreement signed by the Library and Cudeca Hospice in 2010, the object of which is to organise Charity activities and fundraising in order to help “our special form of caring”.

The friendship and collaboration of the Arroyo de la Miel library and the Benalmadena Town Hall together with the volunteers involved is vital so that Cudeca Hospice carries on giving life to the days to all those who need us now and in the future.
