REM.fm 1st BBQ day in aid of Cudeca Hospice

On the 30th of August 2008, Maurice Boland of the Marbella-based radio station REM.fm achieved another fund-raising success for Cudeca Hospice. Maurice had the great idea of asking people to run a BBQ on that specific day, then to invite their guests to contribute to Cudeca Hospice as the price of attending. Maurice suggested that the organisers should contact REM.fm in order to "register" the BBQ, then on the day he contacted many of the organisers and their guests live on air.

The weather stayed good (well, if you can´t rely on weather on the Costa del Sol in August, things have changed) and over 30 organisers registered and ran events. In addition, various companies and private individuals ´phoned in with donations. The total amount is still being finalised, but already it is known that the event raised over €11,000 for the "Save the In-Patients Unit" Campaign. Our thanks go to all who ran BBQs and those who contributed money – and of course, well done to Maurice for making it all happen!
