International Deep Sea Fishing Competition

The sixteenth edition of the International deep-sea fishing competition took place on Friday 21st August for a three day duration. Attending the event were the event delegated Benalmádena Port advisor, Maria del Carmen Romero; the Spanish Fishing Federation judge, Francisco Carrión; and the PR Manager for the Puerto Deportivo de Benalmádena, Fernando Rodriguez Ferrer,

Over 40 boats from all over Spain and Europe, and approximately 200 fishermen took part in the fishing competition, one of the most renowned in the Mediterranean. The competition commenced early Friday morning, with the aim of catching that prize fish (except for red tuna which is currently becoming extinct) and winning the prestigious gold, silver and bronze medals. The boats returned in the evening where the captures were weighed and measured on the official competition scale in the Benalmádena Port.

The Cudeca Foundation took part in the event, with a banner, sunflowers and tins. Thanks to the City council of Benalmádena, the Puerto Deportivo of Benalmádena and the restaurant Los Mellizos, together, we raised 200€ for the Hospice Centre. This donation will help to continue adding life to the days of the patients with advanced cancer, totally free of charge.
