Cudeca Gala Dinner 2014


On 11th July, Cudeca Hospice celebrated their 8th Gala Dinner at Restaurant José Carlos García which is situated at the Pier Nº 1 of Málaga port.  The dinner was held to raise funds for Cudeca Hospice to help them continue adding life to days to their patients who are suffering from diseases in an advanced stage and without the possibility of cure, and totally without cost.
 
The total raised through those who attended, the raffle, and donations was €18,000.  This special event had the presence of authorities such as Daniel Pérez, Delegate of Health Junta de Andalucia in Málaga; Paco Pomares, Councillor for Participación Ciudadana at Málaga Town Hall; Ana Carmen Mata and Inmaculada Aragón, representing the Presidency and Participación Ciudadana of the Diputación of Málaga.  The ambassadors for Cudeca Foundation, Remedios Cervantes and Domi del Postigo, hosted the evening where around 200 business people gathered representing Málaga and International companies like CIPLA, Todocristal, Bodegas El Pimpi, Grupo Ordoñez, Hospital Vithas Xanit International, Ray Just Energy, Unicaja Obra Social, the Colegio Oficial de Enfermería, Segurisur, Pinturas Andalucía, racing team Álvaro Fontes, DN Records and many more.
 
At pre dinner cocktails, to the sound of jazz group Los Negroides, racing driver Álvaro Fontes arrived in his Porsche racing car which had the Cudeca logo embossed on it.   The “jamón serrano” was cut by the best cutter in Spain, courtesy of Bodegas El Pimpi.  Dinner followed, which was presided by Joan Hunt, O.B.E.,  Founder and Honorary President, with other trustees, together with Dra. Marisa Martín, Rafael Olalla and Susan Hannam from Cudeca Foundation.
 
After dinner, the traditional raffle was held with magnificent prizes donated by companies and banks, such as Unicaja Obra Social, Bellsol, Bestead Rest, Bodegas El Pimpi, Fundación Málaga, Pinturas Andalucia, Optica 2000, Grupo Suite, Hotel Don Carlos, Reserva del Higuerón, Diario Sur, Club de Golf La Zagaleta, Club de Golf Miraflores, Restaurante Molino del Santo, Shanti-som and Birdies Vinoteca and others.
 
The top raffle prizes were:
A window system valued at €6,000, donated by Todocristal – Allglass.  The prize was given to the winner, Mª José Alarcón Linares, by founder and Director of the company, Sonsoles Jiménez.
 
 
A complete medical check up donated by Hospital Vithas Xanit Internacional, valued at €1,000.  This prize was given to the winner, Carolina Recio, by Director Mercedes Mengibar.
 
The highlight of the evening was when a watch, valued at 5,400, donated by Joyería Aurelio Marcos was raffled.  The winner, Dr. Manuel Cobo, oncologist at Xanit Hospital, donated his prize, which was presented to him by Esther Ruiz, Director of Communications (Joyería Aurelio Marcos), to be auctioned by Remedios Cervantes, who managed to reach a magnificent closing bid of €2,500.
 
Cudeca Foundation gives heartfelt thanks to José Carlos García and his team and all those who attended the gala, whose generosity will go towards ensuring that the palliative care given by Cudeca Hospice continues to be a reality.
