A local man is planning to make a big splash for charity. Martin Robinson, from Canillas de Albaida, is undertaking a marathon swim to raise money for cancer charity Cudeca.

On June 4th he will attempt to swim over 200 lengths of Competa pool. Last year Martin was diagnosed with bowel cancer and after a major operation and gruelling chemotherapy he wants to raise money for the charity.

"Cudeca has helped support me in so many ways, "he said." The swim is just a small, personal way to thank everyone who has helped me."
"I have always been so fit, active and healthy. Therefore it was a huge shock to discover I had cancer, "he explained." Volunteers and health professionals from Cudeca were always on hand to offer help and advice."

The charity event is taking place with the backing of Competa Town Hall. Officials have provided a lifeguard and are allowing the swimming pool to remain open in the afternoon for the sponsored swim.

Everyone is invited to cheer Martin on and sponsor him by signing the forms that will be circulated by a team of helpers.

Come along to Competa pool on Saturday 4th June from 10am onwards. Or, alternatively put your sponsorship money in one of the official Cudeca collection tins at the event.

Help make a big splash for charity!
