Another year on, and Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice is about to celebrate its annual Sunflower Campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise funds and awareness to the public of the “Special Kind of Caring” and the benefits Cudeca offers to patients suffering from advanced cancer and care to the family throughout the province of Málaga.

For the last 18 years, Cudeca has cared for more than 5.600 patients. From the Hospice Centre, Cudeca coordinates the following care programmes: Home Care visits, In-Patient Unit, Day Care Centre and many other multi-disciplinary activities. All the care provided by Cudeca is cost-free.

During the Sunflower Campaign, dozens of Cudeca volunteers take to the streets to raise awareness and offer Sunflowers (symbol of International Palliative Care), in exchange for donations, with the aim of giving life to the days of over 600 patients and their families attended to each year, by Cudeca, thanks to its professional team of doctors, physiologists, nurses and volunteers.

The Sunflower Campaign 2010, will take place from 5th to 20th June, where the awareness tables and volunteers will be conveniently located at popular locations within the Málaga capital and province such as: Arroyo de la Miel, Fuengirola, Mijas, Estepona, Torremolinos, Marbella, Málaga, Benalmádena, etc.(see attached itinerary).

The Cudeca In-Patient Unit currently faces a significant financial deficit and we therefore need to continue raising those vital funds to prevent the possibility of its closure by the end of the year.

The friendship and collaboration of the community will help to give life to the days of the patients and their families cared for by Cudeca each year, and we sincerely hope, that together, we can continue to help those who need us now and for the future.
