PRESS RELEASE

Benavista Bowls club support Cudeca Hospice

The Benavista Bowls Club held a Table Top and Christmas Fayre on 26th Oct at the Club itself and Los Arcos Bar both owned by Hughie Holgate. There were lots of stalls selling items such as jewellery, household goods, nearly new items, hand made Christmas cards, homemade cakes and pies. There was a delicious chocolate fountain into which you could dip marshmallows or fresh fruit.  The Club ran several stalls themselves and presented all takings from those to Cudeca. Funds were also raised by holding a fun bowling competition, run by Tony Wright.  Global Radio broadcasted live all day from the site, promoting the event and local businesses.

It was an extremely successful day resulting in a total of 1.778,00 euros raised for the Hospice. This year’s funds will be focused on helping to save the in-patient from closure. Since opening the Unit in 2005, the financial support received has not covered the high maintenance costs of the unit and as a result could mean possible closure of the Unit. However if we continue to work together on such successful events and bring in those much needed funds, along with promoting our “become a benefactor” campaign, the future of the In-Patient Unit looks a lot brighter.
