Basic Training of Volunteers in Palliative Care in Andalucia

The Andalucian Plan of Palliative Care 2008-2012, in its line of Citizen Participation has as one of its objectives the integration of volunteers into the system of attention for terminally ill patients and to improve coordination with other centers, groups and ONGs, that work in Palliative Care to optimize the social and health resources, to optimise the care of patients in terminal situation and their families”. Included is the coordination and training of volunteers, both basic and advanced levels.
 
To carry out this work Iavante and Cudeca Foundations have been asked to develop the project of “Basic Training of Volunteers in Palliative Care in Andalucia”. There will be workshops for volunteers interested in training in each of the eight Andalucian provinces.
 
These workshops will be practical and theoretical with interchange of experiences of the participants as well as group dynamics.
The training will be offered in two formats:
 
1.Attending the workshops.
2.On-line forums.
 
There will also be time for local groups to present their work in Palliative Care.
