Cudeca Autumn Concert representing Spain in the 2009 Voices for Hospices world-wide performances

The International Palliative Care Day consists of a collective movement to celebrate and support the World Wide Palliative Care movement.  The act took place this year on the 9-10th October 2009.

Voices for Hospices, celebrated every two years, is the largest simultaneous musical event in the world and in 2007, more than 500 different performances took place in more than 74 countries worldwide over a 24 hr period.  Each year, millions of people in the world who live with a non-curable illness, suffer unnecessary pain and are unable to receive the special kind of care they need. Hospices and specialised Palliative Care centres around the world are designed to provide this care.

Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice participated this year with a Concert featuring the famous London Welsh Rugby Club Male Voice Choir and soloist Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, on Friday 9th October at The Kempinski Hotel in Estepona. With over 275 seats sold, and numerous raffle tickets, Cudeca is delighted to receive a donation for the total of 2.851€! These funds will help the Hospice to continue offering the “Special Kind of Care” to patients suffering from advanced cancer, totally free of charge.

It was a spectacular evening of entertainment, with the entire audience enthralled and charmed by the Choirs’ varied and rousing repertoire. Evident that he was proud and honoured to be singing with his fellow countrymen, Stephen Lloyd-Morgan captivated the audience with powerful and breathtaking Opera and other songs, before joining the choir for `You´ll Never Walk Alone´. The evening culminated with Steve rejoining the Choir for `Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau´, the Welsh National Anthem, to rapturous applause and a standing ovation from the entire audience.

Special thanks are extended to the London Welsh Rugby Male Choir, Steve Lloyd-Morgan, Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe for hosting the event, Nick Holland and Howard John for organising and staging the entire event, the Hotel Kempinski for providing such a fantastic venue and of course to all our Cudeca supporters.

As the concert was such a success, Joan Hunt OBE, President of Cudeca, has invited Nick Holland to stage another fundraising Concert in the Spring of 2010.
