Last July 22nd, 2024 the Benalmádena Town Hall through the Department of Social Welfare and Dependency, agreed to award a grant of €25,000 to the Cudeca Foundation to fund the project for another year: "PLAY-PAL: CARING AT THE END OF LIFE THROUGH PLAY"
In compliance with the objectives of the Benalmádena Town Council's Strategic Plan for 2024, this is a project of social interest that brings added value to the community by normalising the daily lives of pediatric patients, their families, and caregivers.
With play and recreational activities at its core, the project promotes patient well-being across all levels through CUDECA Hospice Foundation’s interdisciplinary pediatric palliative care team: physical and functional through physiotherapy; affective, emotional, and social-familial via psychological care and social work; and social and recreational with play as the primary catalyst.
Once again, we would like to thank the Benalmádena Town Council for its commitment to our comprehensive care model, which involves the community through volunteer participation.

We present the results of the project "adding life to the days of children and adolescents with advanced and terminal illnesses," funded by the Rafa Nadal Foundation.
During 2024, the Cudeca Hospice Foundation has been developing a project aimed at pediatric patients and their families, which won the 2nd edition of the Awards of the Rafa Nadal Foundation.
This edition of the awards aims to recognise social initiatives that generate real changes across various fields. In the case of the Cudeca Hospice Foundation, this involves promoting health and well-being by improving the quality of life for residents in the province of Málaga suffering from a life-limiting or life-threatening condition or illness (generally chronic diseases with no curative treatment).
Thanks to the funding of this project, it has been possible to develop complementary therapies for children and teenagers, such as music therapy and animal-assisted therapy. Specific protocols have been developed for each therapy, and various activities have been carried out for both patients and to promote self-care among their families, supported by the guidance and accompaniment of our volunteers.
On February 13th, an awareness-raising talk was held for healthcare professionals at the Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella. The session provided a review of the activities carried out with pediatric patients during 2024, raising awareness about the work of the Cudeca Foundation's Pediatric Palliative Care team, which is composed of a doctor, a nurse, a psychologist, a social worker, and a physiotherapist.
On behalf of our entire team, we would like to thank the Rafa Nadal Foundation for its recognition and support of this initiative.

On January 14th, 2021, the Regional Ministry of Equality, Social Policies, and Conciliation awarded a grant to the Cudeca Foundation within its 2020 call for applications, for the implementation of actions of general interest aimed at social purposes, funded by the 0.7% personal income tax (IRPF) allocation.{87795d8f23d3e0a0722e067363b4527e04ebe4678ca4b325afd3b2741fc7d431}
Thanks to this funding, it will be possible to carry out the project 'REVOL-Pal, Palliative Care Volunteer Network: New challenges, new volunteers?'. This project aims to enhance the organisation’s volunteer programme by utilising various research techniques, such as conducting focus groups with everyone involved in palliative care: professionals, patients, families, and CUDECA volunteers.
On 23 February, a kick-off meeting was held to launch the programme and plan the actions to be carried out.

This past December, once again, the Cudeca Foundation received the support of the Mijas Town Council. This collaboration was formalised through the Agreement regulating the exceptional grant for the project: Home Palliative Care for patients in the municipality of Mijas in 2024.
This grant contributes to sustaining the service provided by CUDECA in the municipality, where 147 patients were cared for during 2024. These patients have an average age of 70, and in 92% {87795d8f23d3e0a0722e067363b4527e04ebe4678ca4b325afd3b2741fc7d431} of cases, present oncological illnesses.
The objectives of the Home Care service focus on improving quality of life, relieving suffering, and promoting autonomy for individuals with advanced illnesses who are facing the end-of-life stage. It promotes care that ensures dignity and peace during the dying process, keeping patients in their own homes, provided this is their wish and their situation allows it.
On behalf of the entire Cudeca Foundation team, we would like to express our gratitude once again to the Mijas Town Council.

Today, we have held an event to present the extension of our campaign #BeCudecaHeartalongside María Francisca Alarcón, Councilor for Social Inclusion at the Mijas Town Council; Juan Miguel Marcos, President of the Idiliq Foundation; and Marisa Martín, Chief Executive and Medical Director of the Cudeca Foundation.
We have decided to extend the campaign #BeCudecaHeart until the end of February, with the goal of raising the €125,000 needed to ensure that 211 more people can access the palliative care they require in 2025.
We have successfully raised €100,312 thanks to the unconditional support of the community. More than 100,000 thanks to each and every donor who made this achievement possible! However, we are still €24,688 away from reaching our €125,000 goal, which will allow us to care for 211 more people in 2025.
That is why we have decided to extend the campaign until the end of February, giving another opportunity to those who wish to join this wave of solidarity—because every euro counts, every gesture matters, and every helping heart transforms lives.
You can be part of those hearts that provide care.
The #BeCudecaHeart campaign was born with a clear purpose: to ensure that no patient is left without palliative care in 2025. Demand continues to grow, and thanks to the support of many caring people, great progress has been made, but we still need that last push to achieve it.
«Community support is vital for us to continue offering dignified, high-quality care to those who need it most in the final stage of their lives. That is why we are extending the campaign, so that more caring hearts can join us and make a difference, commented Dr. Marisa Martín, Chief Executive and Medical Director of the Cudeca Foundation.
How can you help? It is very easy:
And remember: Your donation can benefit you with up to an 80{87795d8f23d3e0a0722e067363b4527e04ebe4678ca4b325afd3b2741fc7d431} tax deduction (for individuals) and 40{87795d8f23d3e0a0722e067363b4527e04ebe4678ca4b325afd3b2741fc7d431} (for companies).
