[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The British Hispanic Foundation held its Charity Gala Dinner on the 20th of May at the Uppery Club in Malaga on the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III.<\/p>\n

The Uppery Club, in the framework of its collaboration with FHB, was the venue chosen to celebrate the charity gala in favour of the Cudeca Hospice Foundation and the British Benevolent Fund, marking the first celebration held by the British Hispanic Foundation outside Madrid in its 40 years of history.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by authorities from Malaga City Council and the British Embassy, together with the highest representatives of the participating organisations, as well as a large representation of Spanish and British businessmen and benefactors.<\/p>\n

During the institutional act prior to the dinner, tribute was paid to the United Kingdom and Spain by listening to their respective anthems, after which a video was shown recalling the strong links between the British and Spanish royal monarchies and the cultural ties between the two peoples. A second video was shown with the highlights of the coronation of King Charles III.<\/p>\n

The video sent by the British Ambassador, Hugh Elliot, was then shared. He regretted not being able to attend and congratulated the British-Spanish Foundation for all the work they do in favour of Spanish-British relations. In his message he sent greetings to the authorities present, to all those present and to the city of Malaga, thanking them for their support for the British community. He underlined the fact that the gala dinner brought together the three elements of the celebrations that took place during the Coronation weekend: The solemn celebration of a historic moment, the Big Lunch and volunteering for a charitable cause.<\/p>\n

After the projection of the images, Sarinka Parry-Jones, Economic Counsellor of the British Embassy in Madrid<\/strong>, and Mar Torres, Councillor for External Action of Malaga City Council<\/strong>, spoke. Both stressed the special interest of the institutions in strengthening bilateral relations and the important role of Malaga as a strategic city for the British community. Finally, the representatives of the participating institutions took the floor. Firstly, Pilar Gonz\u00e1lez-Baylin, Executive President of the British Hispanic Foundation, said that the Foundation wished to join in the celebrations for the coronation of King Charles III as an expression of affection for the new British sovereign. She highlighted the attendance of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sir Roger Fry (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) and the Vice President, Sonsoles Diez de Rivera (Member of the Order of the British Empire), and expressed her appreciation to the organising committee of the gala and her thanks “to those who have generously contributed with donations and splendid gifts for the charity raffle, as well as to all those who have wanted to join us, supporting our work with their presence”.<\/p>\n

For his part, Manuel M\u00e1rquez, General Director of the Uppery Club<\/strong>, highlighted the importance of this event for the city, the result of the rapprochement between the two institutions, aware of the high value that the connection between their aims and values brings to society.<\/p>\n

After welcoming the guests on their arrival, the gala began with a cocktail reception and a short concert offered by the volunteer choir “The Andaluc\u00eda Performing Arts Society”<\/strong>. This was followed by the institutional act, after which a dinner designed by Chef Juan Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong> was served, followed by a charity raffle.<\/p>\n
