{"id":25810,"date":"2021-12-01T16:20:04","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T16:20:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/?p=25810"},"modified":"2021-12-02T15:16:48","modified_gmt":"2021-12-02T15:16:48","slug":"presentacion-campana-joan-hunt-una-entre-un-millon-en-mijas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/en\/actualidad\/presentacion-campana-joan-hunt-una-entre-un-millon-en-mijas\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of &#8220;Joan Hunt, one in a million&#8221; Campaign in Mijas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On 1st December, Cudeca paid a well-deserved tribute at the Mijas Town Hall to the recently deceased pioneer of palliative care in Spain and founder of Cudeca Hospice, Joan Hunt.<\/p>\n<p>Cudeca then presented its new crowdfunding campaign\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oneinamillion.es\">&#8220;Joan Hunt, one in a Million&#8221;<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0which aims to raise \u20ac1,000,000 to <strong>create and manage a\u00a0Paediatric Palliative Care Unit\u00a0for 4<\/strong> years.<\/p>\n<p>This Unit would include specialised comprehensive care and compassionate accompaniment of children and young people as well as their families including not only parents, but also siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles&#8230;. the whole family. A Unit with an expert team of professionals (doctors, psychologists, nurses, social workers, music, art and play therapists, teachers, physiotherapists, &#8230;.) and volunteers, would attend both in the\u00a0homes and at the Cudeca Centre, in room number 10 or at the Day Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Joan&#8217;s house, paediatric room number 10.\u00a0A central part of this project is to remodel the house where Joan lived her last years, built and paid for by herself. Located next to the Cudeca Hospitalisation Unit in Benalm\u00e1dena, it will be converted into a space completely adapted to deal with such special situations, familiar and homely, with its own kitchen and a small garden overlooking the sea.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by Josele Gonz\u00e1lez, Mayor of Mijas; Nicol\u00e1s Echevarr\u00eda, Director of the &#8220;la Caixa&#8221; branch in Mijas; and on behalf of Cudeca Foundation, Dr. Marisa Mart\u00edn, Manager and Medical Director; and Rafael Olalla, Assistant Manager and Financial Director.<\/p>\n<p>Josele Gonz\u00e1lez, Mayor of Mijas, as well as honouring the figure of Joan, promised to collaborate with this campaign giving as much publicity as possible, and confirmed that this year the Cudeca Foundation will receive a grant of almost \u20ac40,000.<\/p>\n<p>Nicol\u00e1s Echevarr\u00eda, representing &#8220;la Caixa&#8221;, the main collaborator of the campaign, highlighted the entity&#8217;s commitment to &#8220;double all donations received from customers of the entity&#8221;.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On 1st December, Cudeca paid a well-deserved tribute at the Mijas Town Hall to the recently deceased pioneer of palliative care in Spain and founder of Cudeca Hospice, Joan Hunt.
