This year we return to normality by celebrating our most cherished event: Light a Light, in memory of our loved ones<\/strong><\/a>. A very special moment to remember the people who are no longer with us, but who remain in our hearts forever.<\/p>\n

We will be celebrating on Friday 17th December<\/strong> from 6pm, at our Centre in Benalm\u00e1dena, in a different way. We will be doing it all outside, to continue to be prudent and respect Covid measures, so come well wrapped up. We will enjoy our traditional activities, Christmas carols, Christmas sweets, the famous raffle, and a few surprises. The traditional Christmas lights switch-on, which will illuminate the Centre until the New Year, will this year be in a special place and there will also be a light that will shine in a different way for all of us at Cudeca, that of our beloved founder Joan Hunt, who, as you know, passed away recently<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All donations received will be part of our campaign “Joan Hunt, one in a million”<\/em><\/strong><\/a> dedicated to Joan, to remember and honour her, and to fulfil her last wish: to make the house where she lived her last years into a place of special caring<\/strong>. Joan had the ability and courage to make the impossible possible and real. Now it is our turn to continue her legacy and create Cudeca’s Paediatric Palliative Care Unit, turning her\u00a0home into a space where children and adolescents with advanced illnesses can be cared for with their families.<\/p>\n

This Unit will ensure specialised comprehensive care and compassionate accompaniment<\/strong> through a team of expert professionals (doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists, music, art and play therapists, teachers,…) and volunteers, both at home, and at our Cudeca Centre in Joan’s home and at our Day Centre.<\/p>\n

To dream you have to be brave: our challenge and that of all of us is to raise \u20ac1,000,000, inspired by the one in a million, to create and staff the Unit and ensure its operation for 4 years.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is why this year your collaboration is even more special<\/strong>. Dedicating a light to your loved one is not only a nice gesture to remember them, it is a way to continue caring in their name, caring for very fragile people and their whole family.<\/p>\n
