[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On the 17th of May we presented “Walkahome, a walk at home for Cudeca Hospice” at the Mijas Town Hall and we had the support of the Mayor, Josele Gonz\u00e1lez; and Councillor for Social Services, Hip\u00f3lito Zapico. Also present at the presentation were Dr. Marisa Mart\u00edn, Chief Executive and Medical Director; and Angel Krebbers, Communications and Fundraising Manager.<\/p>\n

Marisa Mart\u00edn pointed out that “for the second year and due to the pandemic, we are unable to hold this traditional walk in person, so we are moving it to a virtual format. A virtual event where participants can do any kind of activity from 9am to 2pm, there is no time or distance, both at home and in public spaces, always respecting the prevention measures against covid” and added “Last year we had more than 1,000 participants and this year we hope to double it to raise more funds and thus continue caring for many people who need us”.<\/p>\n

The Mayor of Mijas commented that “now more than ever we must continue to support the social entities that work in our town such as Cudeca, who work with users of our town not only in palliative care but also in accompanying families and who attended to more than 80 local residents last year alone. For all these reasons it is essential to continue to support the economic collaboration as we are already doing on the part of the Mijas Town Hall while helping to promote this type of initiative,” said the councillor in what is a proposal “to which we would like to invite the greatest number of Mijas residents to participate, to collaborate with this solidarity walk whose ultimate goal is the collaboration of the people of Mijas with Cudeca”.<\/p>\n

For his part Zapico, has stressed the importance of the collaboration of the City Council with social entities “not only through direct subsidies for the implementation of all kinds of programs and that exceeded one million euros, and that in the case of this entity reached 40. 40,000 euros, but also through the cession of spaces such as the one recently ceded for the opening of a new shop in our town”, and adds “in Mijas the Foundation attended a significant number of local residents last year, so we believe it is essential to continue collaborating and supporting this type of initiatives that have a direct impact on the quality of life of our neighbours”.<\/p>\n

Due to the current situation of COVID-19, we are going through a very difficult time and the impossibility of raising funds to continue caring for more than 1,600 people with cancer and other advanced illnesses in a year. To try to alleviate this situation, we are going to hold, as part of our \u201cSunflower Effect\u201d campaign,our \u201cWalkahome, a walk at home for Cudeca\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u00a0“WalkaHOME, Walk at home for Cudeca Hospice”<\/span><\/h2>\n

It will take place on Saturday, May 23th from 9 a.m. to 2p.m.<\/p>\n

\u00a0How can you participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0First: Sign up and prepare your activity<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants can register through the www.dorsalchip.es portal<\/a>. Participants can register for \u20ac4 (bib) or \u20ac8 (bib+T-shirt). An extra donation can also be made at the same time of registration to help Cudeca to continue caring at the end of life.<\/p>\n

After you have filled in your details, you will be preinscribed. You can then either continue to the payment page or follow the link you will get by email. Your bib will be emailed to you.<\/p>\n

Each registration will be assigned a\u00a0 number that can be downloaded through the platform and used on the day of the walk.<\/p>\n

Participants should plan the physical activity that best suits their physical condition and the space available at home to perform it on Sunday, May 23rd.\u00a0 You can do it together with the family, as a team, with your pet, or alone, and it will have neither times nor distances.<\/p>\n

Examples of activities: walking or running through any area of \u200b\u200bthe home (hallway, living room or terrace), peddaling with an exercise bike, swimming in the pool (non-communal), squats, skipping rope, climbing or descending stairs (non-communal), dancing\u00a0 salsa, rock or any style, etc.<\/p>\n

Second: WalkaHOME Day – Sunday, 23rd May<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Participants will be able to carry out their activity at their homes from 9a.m. to
\n2 p.m\u00a0 and share photos of his activity wearing his\/her bib on social networks with the hashtag #CudecaWalkahome #Cudeca.\u00a0The Foundation will publish in its RRSS all the photos and videos that are tagged with the mentioned hashtags.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Third: Complementary activities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To accompany the Walkahome, the Cudeca Hospice Foundation will broadcast, through its YouTube cannel and Facebook, different activities so that anyone can join from home.\u00a0 There will be Pilates, Yoga, Cardio, Zumba classes for the whole family;\u00a0 and many more surprises.<\/p>\n
