Next Friday 29th January, seven schools in Benalm\u00e1dena will hold a solidarity run to celebrate World Peace Day and in support of the Sunflower Effect Campaign that the Cudeca Foundation has organised to maintain for one year a multidisciplinary Home Care team made up of a doctor, nurse, psychologist and social worker, specialised in palliative care.<\/p>\n
More than 5,000 children from the schools IES Jacaranda, CEIP Poeta Salvador Rueda, Colegio P\u00fablico “El Tomillar”, CEIP Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez, CEIP La Paloma, IES Benalm\u00e1dena and CEIP Mariana Pineda (all in the municipality of Benalm\u00e1dena) will hold a solidarity run on the grounds of each school on the occasion of World Peace Day in response to Cudeca Foundation’s urgent call for help. In addition to the solidarity run, there will be other activities planned and led by the students of each school such as a solidarity video of all the students of one of the schools with the song by Rozal\u00e9n and Estopa, “Vivir”, and an Aerobithon, where all the students will dance to the rhythm of the popular “Jerusalema”.<\/p>\n
Although Cudeca has managed to continue caring for its patients, this pandemic crisis has hit the Foundation hard financially, especially in its charity shops (its main source of income), and in its charity events, which are completely blocked. The negative evolution of the pandemic continues to open up many uncertainties for the Foundation, which is facing very worrying losses for 2021.<\/p>\n
This campaign, with the slogan “Join the Sunflower Effect”, aims to raise 185,000 euros with the help of the Malaga society to maintain for 1 year a multidisciplinary Home Care team made up of a doctor, nurse, psychologist and social worker, specialised in palliative care. This team will attend to an average of 250 patients per year in their homes with an average of 3-4 visits per day, and will provide the medical care and the psychological and social support needed by both patients and their families.<\/p>\n
The balance of the campaign so far is extremely positive: more than \u20ac180,000 has been raised, which represents 97% of the total. Public institutions; companies; and citizens as a whole have joined in solidarity with this campaign. Volunteers, partners, donors… have been contacted and their response has been exciting and generous. Donations ranging from \u20ac10 to \u20ac30,000 from La Caixa, as the main sponsor, have been able to raise this valuable amount.<\/p>\n
However, the campaign, initially planned until 6 January, has been extended until 31 January in order to continue to respond to the great interest generated, and to try to complete the planned objective, which has almost been reached.<\/p>\n
