[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The C\u00f3mpeta Christmas Market took place on Saturday, December 5, 2020 on an extremely cold windy day in Plaza Almijara (C\u00f3mpeta) and all proceeds of the Cudeca stall are dedicated to our new crowdfunding campaign Sunflower Effect.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Although we have continued to look after all our patients, the pandemic crisis has dealt a severe blow to our finances, in particular through the effect on our main source of income, the charity shops, which had to close for two months and which are now trying to recoup their sales; and on fundraising events, which have come to a standstill. As the pandemic continues to rage, we face greater uncertainty and are experiencing very worrying losses. In 2021, losses could amount to between 700,000 and a million euros.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The campaign, whose slogan is \u201cJoin the Sunflower Effect<\/strong>\u201d, aims, with the help of the local community, to raise 185,000 euros to maintain for one year a multidisciplinary Home Care team made up of a doctor, a nurse, a psychologist and a social worker, all specialised in palliative care. Such a team looks after an average of 250 patients in their own homes, making an average of three to four home visits every day, giving medical assistance and all the psychological and social support which the patients, and their families, need.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In spite of the weather and the current travel community restrictions, the Cudeca stall had a fantastic morning, raising a record \u20ac721.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once again, thanks to the generousity of the local C\u00f3mpeta community and the Canillas de Albaida neighbours, the Tombola table was stacked with just about everything:\u00a0 toiletries, chocolates, beer, cava, spirits, wine, jewellery, handbags, filter coffee machine and toys. The actual tombola table was positioned outside \u201cLa Taperia\u201d within the plaza and as the table goodies were being displayed, Pedro from \u201cLa Taperia\u201d generously donated six bottles of wine.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The major prizes on the Numbers Board were generously donated by the local businesses\/ suppliers: Gerry Robertson (Competa Chimney Sweep), La Esquina de Miguel, Pavo Real, Sergio Fernandez Properties and Tin Tin Sal\u00f3n de Belleza.<\/p>\n

The winning numbers were 11, 22, 31, 8, 46, 77 and congratulations to the lucky winners: Marieke de Weaver, Sol Findley, John Etheridge, Ian Simpson, Steve Brogan and the very own, Kevin!!!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As always, the cake stall was very popular, with a large spread of sweet and savoury items.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Guess the Sweets in the jar, 112 was won by John Etheridge.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The community of C\u00f3mpeta and the neighbours from Canillas de Albaida never cease to amaze the organizer, Cindy Jones, with their abundance of donations for the Tombola stall and cake stands which were once again, amazing.\u00a0 Special thanks to them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And a final big \u201cthank you\u201d to Cindy\u00b4s helpers on the days: Cudeca volunteers, Helen Sanderson, Jill Thompson, Josephine Drew together with Ian Thompson and Kevin Deavin.<\/p>\n

We enjoy the support of CaixaBank through the decentralised budget of the Fundaci\u00f3n \u201cla Caixa\u201d, which has already given 30,000 euros towards the campaign target, and is providing systems to channel donations: through bank branches, ATMs, the mobile banking application CaixaBankNow or online banking through caixabank.es<\/p>\n
