{"id":22841,"date":"2019-12-16T12:23:51","date_gmt":"2019-12-16T12:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/?p=22841"},"modified":"2020-01-13T08:50:00","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T08:50:00","slug":"celebracion-de-enciende-una-luz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/en\/actualidad\/celebracion-de-enciende-una-luz\/","title":{"rendered":"Light a Light Celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On Friday 13th December, we held the traditional Christmas celebration\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Light a Light&#8221; in memory of loved ones<\/strong>\u00a0at our Hospice Palliative Care Centre in Benalm\u00e1dena.<\/p>\n<p>The event commenced with a performance by the\u00a0<strong>Sunny View School<\/strong>\u00a0students&#8217; choir, followed by the school principal, Mr. Pettis, who presented Cudeca&#8217;s Care Manager, Rafael G\u00f3mez, with a cheque of \u20ac650 raised in the &#8220;Jumper Day&#8221; event.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by the\u00a0<strong>Costa Soul Singers choir<\/strong>\u00a0while the younger ones enjoyed the\u00a0<strong>Magic Mota&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a0performance and\u00a0<strong>Santa Claus<\/strong>&#8216; visit.<\/p>\n<p>Following the performances, Joan Hunt together with the Charity Shops Manager, Daniel Beaudet, handed out diplomas to the volunteers of the Crafts Workshop who began last year to create Christmas articles with recycled elements and which has been received very well.<\/p>\n<p>At 8 pm the lights of the Cudeca Centre were turned on by Joan Hunt OBE, Founder and Honorary President; together with Marisa Mart\u00edn, Chief Executive and Medical Director; Yusuf Hamied, President of the Yusuf &amp; Farida Foundation; and Alicia Laddaga, Health Councillor of the Benalm\u00e1dena Town Hall. The lighting-up was accompanied by more than 250 attendees who carried their charity candles, and with tenor Rodrigo Orrego\u2019s rendering of &#8220;Silent Night\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>After the lights went on, the event continued with a raffle with great prizes donated by companies, and everyone enjoyed Christmas food donated by a group of volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>If you have not been able to attend, but would like to write a dedication of a loved one, you can do so at the Cudeca Centre in Benalm\u00e1dena or at any of the charity shops, as well as on the website www.lightupcudeca.org.
