{"id":16447,"date":"2016-05-18T18:54:08","date_gmt":"2016-05-18T18:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/actualidad\/1500-people-walking-with-cudeca-hospice\/"},"modified":"2022-03-31T14:17:31","modified_gmt":"2022-03-31T14:17:31","slug":"1500-people-walking-with-cudeca-hospice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/en\/actualidad\/1500-people-walking-with-cudeca-hospice\/","title":{"rendered":"1,500 people walking with Cudeca Hospice!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"notCuerpo\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Last Sunday, 15th May, <strong>Cudeca Hospice <\/strong>celebrated together with 1,500 participants their famous <strong>Cudeca Walkathon 2016<\/strong> in Benalmadena.<\/p>\n<p>The charity walk has, as an objective to promote awareness about their assistential work as well as fundraising to cover the costs of their free assistential programs made up of Doctors, Social workers, psychologists and physiotherapists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thanks to the affection and solidarity of the participants, friends, collaborators and volunteers<\/strong>, we have been able to achieve gross fundraising of more than 30,000\u20ac.<\/p>\n<p>On this family and sporting day, we had the presence of numerous members of the Town Hall Corporation of Benalmadena: <strong>Victor Navas<\/strong>, Mayor of Benalmadena; <strong>Alicia Laddaga<\/strong>, Councilor of Health; <strong>Irene Diaz<\/strong>, Social Welfare Councilor; <strong>Javier Mar\u00edn<\/strong>, Citizens Councilor; <strong>Beatriz Olmedo<\/strong>, Personnel Councilor; <strong>Enrique Garcia<\/strong>, Councilor of Housing; <strong>Juan Ramon Hernandez<\/strong>, Councilor of New Technology; as well as members of P.P, <strong>Paloma Garcia<\/strong> and <strong>Juan Olea<\/strong>; <strong>Manuel Gallego<\/strong>, Bank Manager of <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.lacaixa.es\/holabank\/particulares_en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caixabank<\/a> in Torrequebrada; and on behalf of Cudeca Hospice, <strong>Dr. Marisa Martin<\/strong>, General Manager and Medical Director; and <strong>Rafael Olalla<\/strong>, Deputy General Manager and Financial Director.<\/p>\n<p>On the promenade, we enjoyed activities for all the family courtesy of <strong>Exploramas<\/strong>, a bouncy castle courtesy of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.castilloszimmermann.com\/english_index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zimmerman Bouncy Castles<\/a><\/strong>, a Charity paella carried out by our team of volunteers together with the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.losmellizos.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restaurant Los Mellizos<\/a><\/strong>, a raffle with great prizes, the bar courtesy of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cocacola.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coca Cola <\/a><\/strong>and many surprises more. We also had live acts of <strong>Mel Williams<\/strong>, <strong>Belly dancers \u201cNaima\u201d, the Rociero choir \u201cPe\u00f1a Union del Cante\u201d, R-Jay, Motown and R&amp;B, DJ Buyo and Consuelo Lallai<\/strong>. Also, <strong>Carolina Martin<\/strong>, Physiotherapist of Cudeca carried out the warm up for those attending so that they could start the routes with lots of energy.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the prizes for most funds raised, the undisputable winners were, for yet another year, <strong>Bentle and Kim Gottlieb<\/strong> with funds raised of 2,721\u20ac, who received the prize of 7 nights stay in Portugal courtesy of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.diamondresorts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diamond Resorts Internationa<\/a>l<\/strong>. In second place were<strong> Soroptimist <\/strong>who raised 1,240.05\u20ac and received as a prize a free medical check valued at 1,000\u20ac courtesy of <a href=\"http:\/\/xanit.es\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Vithas Xanit Hospital International<\/strong><\/a>; in third place was <strong>Chris Knapp <\/strong>with the amount raised of 750\u20ac who was presented with a 2 night stay at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunsetbeachclub.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sunset Beach Club<\/a><\/strong> in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>The winners of the group with most members went to <strong>\u201cEjercito Rojas\u201c<\/strong> with 45 participants who received a prize full of free tickets to the main leisure centres of Malaga.
