On Friday 18th December more than 200 candles<\/strong> were flickering at Cudeca Hospice, Benalm\u00e1dena in celebration of Light a Light in memory of loved ones.<\/div>\n

At this special celebration, the lights on the Hospice building were switched on by Joan Hunt O.B.E.<\/strong>, Founder and Honorary President together with Vice President, Susan Hannam<\/strong>, CEO and Medical Director, Marisa Martin<\/strong>, Deputy CEO and Financial Director, Rafael Olalla<\/strong>, Mayor of Benalm\u00e1dena, V\u00edctor Navas<\/strong>, \u00a0Councillor for Entertainment, Ana Scherman<\/strong> and Councillor for Health, Alicia Laddaga<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/div>\n
Joan Hunt<\/strong> said “This is the 16th year that Marisa and I have had the honour of joining together to spend a few moments remembering our loved ones who received the special love and care of Cudeca during their final days. Our first Light a Light celebration in memory of a loved one was in 1999.\u00a0 Now 23 years after the birth of Cudeca, we are proud to tell you that our medical teams have cared for more than 11,000 patients \u2013 approximately 1,000 each year<\/em>\u201d.<\/div>\n

In addition to the switching on of lights, Father Christmas visited, face painters from Alma Animaci\u00f3n and there were performances from pianist, Marina Berlanga, the Santa Cecilia Choir, children from Sunny View School and the Cantando Entre Amigos Choir. \u00a0<\/div>\n
A website has been created to light a light in memory of a loved one<\/strong> at\u00a0www.cudeca-events.org\/evento\/lightalight2015<\/a><\/div>\n
