{"id":16364,"date":"2015-09-25T18:42:21","date_gmt":"2015-09-25T18:42:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/actualidad\/cudeca-hospice-open-door-day\/"},"modified":"2015-09-25T18:42:21","modified_gmt":"2015-09-25T18:42:21","slug":"cudeca-hospice-open-door-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/en\/actualidad\/cudeca-hospice-open-door-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Cudeca Hospice Open-door Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"notCuerpo\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">Yesterday, the <strong>Cudeca Hospice Open-door Da<\/strong>y was held to celebrate the <strong>10th anniversary of the In-Patient Unit.<\/strong><br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  The venue was in the Cudeca Centre in Benalm\u00e1dena in the prescence of the mayor of Benalm\u00e1dena,<strong> V\u00edctor Navas<\/strong>, and the Health Councillor, <strong>Alicia Laddaga<\/strong>; the representatives of the Benalm\u00e1dena PP Group, <strong>Paloma Garc\u00eda, Juan Olea and Ana Mar\u00eda Mac\u00edas<\/strong>; and the Deputy- Mayoress of Torremolinos, <strong>Maribel Toc\u00f3n<\/strong>; the Director of Business Development of the Vithas Xanit International Hospital,<strong> Juan Bosco<\/strong>; the Director of Nursing Care of the Costa del Sol District, <strong>M\u00aa. Luz Mancha<\/strong>; the representative of Helic\u00f3pteros Sanitarios, <strong>Inmaculada Lanzas<\/strong>; and on behalf of Cudeca Hospice, <strong>Joan Hunt OBE<\/strong>, founder &amp; honorary president; <strong>Marisa Mart\u00edn<\/strong>, chief executive &amp; Medical Director; <strong>Susan Hannam<\/strong>, Vice President; <strong>Rafael Olalla<\/strong>, Deputy Chief Executive-Financial, Communications &amp; Fundraising Director; and <strong>Inmaculada Ru\u00edz<\/strong>, Director of the Volunteering Department.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  <strong>Joan Hunt OBE<\/strong> opened the event with words of welcome to all the people present and underlined that <em>\u201cJust 10 years ago, opening the In-Patient Unit was the fulfillment of the vision that a few of us shared in 1992 when we commenced our first Home Care, given then by volunteers. Now we are celebrating 10 years and many patients and families have experienced the benefits of the special care that the medical staff and unit provide\u201d.<\/em><br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  After, <strong>Marisa Mart\u00edn<\/strong> presented the history of the Unit as well as the results of the Campaign <em>\u201cWe Need List\u201d and commented that \u201cThanks to the involvement of the community and volunteers, Cudeca Hospice has managed to run the In-Patient Unit for 10 years, offering services to more than 1,700 patients and families, free of charge. Doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and physiotherapists work each day in the Hospice offering the best special care\u201d.<\/em><br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  <strong>Rafael Olalla<\/strong> mentioned that <em>\u201cthe In-Patient Unit opened in 2005, which was a great challenge for the Foundation as this involved doubling the budget. Yet, thanks t the effort made by everybody we have been able to celebrate 10 years of special care\u201d<\/em>.
