This year \u201cThe Good Companions Social Club\u201d completed 20 years supporting Cudeca Hospice.\u00a0 They celebrated the great occasion with an enjoyable dinner attended by the majority of members at Restaurante El Jinete, travelling by a special bus provided by the President Mr. Tony White.\u00a0 \u00a0During their previous weekly meeting, Cudeca\u2019s Vice President, Susan Hannam, explained the various services that Cudeca provides without cost, to patients throughout the Province of M\u00e1laga.\u00a0 A special cake had been prepared to mark the occasion and a symbolic cheque was presented for 159.685\u20ac \u00a0which is the total amount donated over the 20years.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
The Club was inaugurated by volunteers from the Fuengirola Hospice Charity shop in 1995 and has lived up to its promise of making an annual donation towards the special care offered to \u00a0patients.\u00a0 \u00a0Cudeca was formed in 1992 with the objective of establishing hospice care for patients suffering from a life threatening disease.\u00a0 The Fuengirola shop was also opened in 1992 and it was in 1995 that the shop volunteers felt that they wanted to do something more to support Cudeca\u2019s special care.\u00a0 Over the years membership has grown to approximately 70. The activity of the Club provides many enjoyable events, the weekly meeting with Bingo etc, evening dinners and those great trips to different parts of Spain.\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
In return the members continue their promise to support Cudeca Hospice. To this year Cudeca has cared for more than 9,000 patients, the majority at home with their family and for those that are alone or need special care there is the special In-Patient Unit.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Cudeca would like to take this opportunity to thank the Good Companions President, Tony White, Treasurer Ann Waters as well as Russell Riggs the trips organiser, for their valuable support.<\/div>\n

Everyone in Cudeca send heartfelt thanks to all the members for their continued support to the Cudeca Hospice over two decades, and congratulations on the great success of the Club.\u00a0 May it continue for many years to come. THE GOOD COMPANIONS CLUB<\/u><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
The Good Companions Club was formed 20 years ago, in Fuengirola, <\/u>to raise funds for CUDECA, and, over this period , has raised over 160,000\u20ac by means of social meetings, day trips by coach, longer holidays also by coach, lunches, dinners and various fund raising events including fashion shows and a large Christmas raffle .<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
The club has always been helped in their endeavours by the coach company Vazquez Olmedo, with whom we have a very good working relationship and whose services have been used on all coach trips using their modern, luxury, fully insured coaches. Their drivers are all punctual, polite and very helpful with an aging membership.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Good Companions Club meets at the Manila Bar in Los Boliches each Tuesday at 11.30am for bingo, a raffle and a light hearted quiz.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Club President, Tony White has been in the post for the last 15 years and he is assisted by members who, in turn, organise the lunches, trips and social events.<\/div>\n
The Club is open to anyone to join at the cost of 12\u20ac per year, new members will always be welcomed, there are no reserved seats or segregated tables. All members sit with and talk to each other, are friendly and welcoming and are encouraged to participate in the fund raising if they wish although members may also just come along to have a drink and a chat and enjoy the morning.<\/div>\n
