{"id":16269,"date":"2014-05-26T18:27:33","date_gmt":"2014-05-26T18:27:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/actualidad\/cudeca-hospice-walkathon-2014-the-best-ever\/"},"modified":"2014-05-26T18:27:33","modified_gmt":"2014-05-26T18:27:33","slug":"cudeca-hospice-walkathon-2014-the-best-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/en\/actualidad\/cudeca-hospice-walkathon-2014-the-best-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"Cudeca Hospice Walkathon 2014 &#8211; The Best Ever!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"notCuerpo\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">On Sunday 25th May <strong>Cudeca\u2019s Walkathon<\/strong> took place with over 1100 walkers arriving to raise funds for <strong>CUDECA HOSPICE<\/strong>.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  Thanks to the walkers, their sponsors, volunteers and businesses, over\u00a0 \u20ac22,000 was raised.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  Present at this major event was Paloma Garc\u00eda, the Mayoress of Benalm\u00e1dena who thanked the community for their generosity.\u00a0 Also from the Benalm\u00e1dena Town Hall were Councillors Juan Olea \u2013 Sports, Ana Mar\u00eda Mac\u00edas \u2013 Civic Participation, Inmaculada Hern\u00e1ndez \u2013 Health and Francisco Salido \u2013 Social Welfare.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  On this fantastic charity day, the entertainment was provided by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lostarifaplana.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tarifa Plana<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.funkyvocals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Funky Vocals<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/nelsonmusicacademy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nelson Music Academy<\/a>, Soul Makers, the Rociero Choir and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NaimaMarClasesDanzaDelVientre?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\">Naima Mar \u2013 Danza del Vientre<\/a>.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  The highlight of the day was the amazing paellas which were being made by professionals, helped by volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the afternoon serving delicious portions of paella to hundreds of people.\u00a0 There were also children\u2019s activities organized by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exploramas.com\/uk\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Exploram\u00e1s<\/a>, a children\u2019s bouncy castle provided by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.castilloszimmermann.com\/english_index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Zimmerman<\/a> and a raffle with amazing prizes.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  The winners of the Walkathon\u2019s<strong> biggest group <\/strong>prize was won by C.B. Mijas with 24 walkers, who all received invitations to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bioparcfuengirola.es\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Bioparc Fuengirola<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/ww.selwo.es\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Selwo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariposariodebenalmadena.com\/English\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Butterfly Park<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/clubdehielobenalmadena.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ice Rink Benalm\u00e1dena<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/aquamijas.com\/en\/#!\/\" target=\"_blank\">Parque Acu\u00e1tico de Mijas<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.principia-malaga.com\/p\/index.php\/welcome\" target=\"_blank\">Centro Principia<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tivoli.es\/_english\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Tivoli World<\/a>.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  Prizes were also given to the walkers with the <strong>highest sponsorship <\/strong>money collected.\u00a0 The first prize went to Kim &amp; Bente Gottlieb with \u20ac2,171.\u00a0 They won a 7 night stay in Mallorca with Diamond Resorts International.\u00a0 Second prize went to Chris Knapp with \u20ac1,325 who received a voucher from Xanit Hospital to the value of \u20ac1,000 and third prize went to Soroptimist International Women\u2019s Group with \u20ac741, who won a 2 nights stay at Sunset Beach Club.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  <strong>Cudeca Hospice<\/strong> wishes to thank their volunteers, whom without their essential hard work, this event would not have been possible.
