{"id":16256,"date":"2014-02-19T18:24:15","date_gmt":"2014-02-19T18:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/actualidad\/the-monday-club-donates-quilts-for-cudeca-hospice\/"},"modified":"2014-02-19T18:24:15","modified_gmt":"2014-02-19T18:24:15","slug":"the-monday-club-donates-quilts-for-cudeca-hospice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cudeca.org\/en\/actualidad\/the-monday-club-donates-quilts-for-cudeca-hospice\/","title":{"rendered":"The Monday Club donates quilts for Cudeca Hospice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"notCuerpo\">\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">  On Tuesday 18th February, the <strong>Monday Club <\/strong>donated <strong>8 beautiful quilts <\/strong>for Cudeca Hospice to delight patients and their visitors.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  Every Monday during the summer months<strong> a small group of keen needlewomen <\/strong>met at <strong>Jenny Stobart\u00b4s house<\/strong> in Co\u00edn to pool their talent and make patchwork quilts for worthy causes. This year they decided to make quilts for the beds in the <strong>Cudeca Hospice Inpatient Unit<\/strong>.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  After consulting with Cudeca staff, the group decided on designs and colours with the original intention of producing 2 or 3 quilts.However when quilters in the area heard about the project, several other people donated finished or partially completed work to the Monday Club. Their efforts were supported by <strong>Cristina<\/strong> <strong>Boro<\/strong> from the <strong>Entrealgodones Patchwork <\/strong>in Alcal\u00e1 de Guadaira, Seville, who donated some material and also machine quilted 2 of the quilts.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  The <strong>CEO and Medical Director, Marisa Martin<\/strong>, together with <strong>Juan Manuel Lapeira<\/strong>, <strong>nurse coordinator Hospice<\/strong> received a representative of the Monday Club, and were delighted to receive such a <strong>\u201ctalented\u201d gift <\/strong>that will make the hospice rooms cheerful and homely, contributing to make true our special kind of caring.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  <strong>The Monday Club members are: Jenny Stobart, Fiona Kiddle, Val Hewgill, Lesley Thompson, Carole Urwin, Sue Summers and Betty Bruce with help from Barbara Crompton who donated one of the quilts.<\/strong><br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  Many thanks to all for helping us<br \/>  to continue giving life to days at the In-Patient Unit!<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  \u00a0<\/div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday 18th February, the Monday Club donated 8 beautiful quilts for Cudeca Hospice to delight patients and their visitors. \u00a0 Every Monday during the summer months a small group of keen needlewomen met at Jenny Stobart\u00b4s house in Co\u00edn to pool their talent and make patchwork quilts for worthy causes.
