\t\tOn the 26th of April, the Diputaci\u00f3n de M\u00e1laga <\/strong>(M\u00e1laga\u00b4s Provincial Council) celebrated the Day of the Province in Casares. During this ceremony, President and Founder of the Cudeca Foundation, Mrs. Joan Hunt OBE<\/strong>, was awarded with the Gold Medal of the Province <\/strong>as was the Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza, the President of the Confederation of M\u00e1laga\u00b4s Businesses (CEM) and the director of the Newspaper SUR. In addition, a special award was presented to the security forces who fought against the wild fire that last summer swept through about 8,000 hectares of various municipalities on the Costa del Sol and the Secretary of State of the Swedish Presidency, Gunnar Wieslander, who was accompanied by the Ambassador to Spain in Sweden.<\/div>\n
\t\tJoan has inspired hundreds of volunteers and has achieved the involvement of society at all levels, including civil and political society and even artists and sports men and women in favour of this cause. She is certainly a person who has been able to involve the community in self-care, representing an example of dedication to the cause of palliative care and an active worker in the transformation of society values. The humanitarian work and solidarity of Joan Hunt have received numerous awards from the civil society of M\u00e1laga, as well as national and international. Amongs others, she has been awarded the 1st Annual Award SUR in English (1996), European Woman of the Year Award (1997), The OBE from H.R.H. Prince Charles (2002), the M\u00e1laga Woman of the Year Award in 2005 by the Recreational and Cultural Association (ARC) El Port\u00f3n, the Professional Achievement Award 2005 by the Spanish Federation of Women Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs (FEDEPE), and the Award \u00abHuella Social\u00bb by the Rotary Club of Malaga in 2011.<\/div>\n
\t\tAt present Joan continues her services as President of the Cudeca Foundation.<\/div>\n
