What does this remind you of?\u00a0 Yes, <strong>United Kingdom<\/strong>.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  The <strong>Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall <\/strong>is organising on the <strong>10th of May <\/strong>the Friendship Day with United Kingdom. The event will take place in Mijas village in the main square, from <strong>12 noon to 6PM<\/strong>. This is part of a series of very successful friendship days that the department is organising with different countries. The next friendship day will be dedicated to Denmark in the month of October.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  The <strong>new British Consul Mrs Charmaine Arbouin <\/strong>and the <strong>Mayor of Mijas Angel Nozal <\/strong>will <strong>inaugurate<\/strong> the day with the <strong>discovering<\/strong> of a <strong>plaque<\/strong> to commemorate this special day at the Mural of the Nations next to the Tourist office in Mijas village. The <strong>actor Robert Michael Maxwell<\/strong>, will be carrying out a recital of Shakespeare followed by Leslie Thompson on the Scottish bagpipes.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  The stands will open at noon where visitors will be able to savour typical food and beverage from United Kingdom. Fish n Chips, Hog Roast, Cream Teas, Bangers n Mash, British Beers, Wines and whiskeys and lots more!<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  Also on stands will be a representation of British businesses on the Costa del Sol, as well as British Media.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  On stage there will be performances right through the day from 1PM to 6PM.<br \/>  The programme is the following:<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  13:00 &#8211; Performance by the students of St. Anthony\u2019s School<br \/>  13:15 &#8211; Family of Sound \u2013 Children\u2019s performance<br \/>  13:30 &#8211; The Silver Beats \u2013 Tribute band to the Beatles\u00a0<br \/>  14:00 &#8211; Scottish Bagpipes and dances<br \/>  14:15 &#8211; The Silver Beats \u2013 Tribute band to the Beatles\u00a0<br \/>  14:45 &#8211; Scottish Bagpipes and dances<br \/>  15:00 &#8211; The Revival Band \u2013 The best British music from the 50s, 60s, 70s<br \/>  15:30 &#8211; Jive-Spain \u2013 Jive Exhibition and Workshop<br \/>  16:00 &#8211; The Revival Band \u2013 The best British music from the 50s, 60s, 70s<br \/>  16:30 &#8211; Stolen Gnomes \u2013 Live Irish Music<br \/>  17:00 &#8211; Funky Vocals Choir<br \/>  17:30 &#8211; Stolen Gnomes \u2013 Live Irish Music<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  There will be Kiddies Workshops set up by the Mijas Art Centre, as well as children entertainers who will keep the kids busy with handcrafts and games.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  El Corte Ingles of Mijas Costa in collaboration with the Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall, will be holding on Friday the 9th of May, (a day before the event in Mijas village), different activities and performances in their commercial centre to promote the Mijas Friendship Day with United Kingdom.<br \/>  Parking is not a problem as Mijas has <strong>1 EURO &#8211; ALL DAY PARKING <\/strong>in the car park next to the main square.<br \/>  \u00a0<br \/>  For more information <strong>contact FRD: 952 58 90 10 or frd@mijas.es<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friendship Day with United Kingdom 10th of May \u00a0 The Beatles, Cliff Richard, Fish n Chips, Bangers and Mash, Pints of Lager\u2026.
