WalkaHOME, a walk at home for Cudeca Hospice

Due to the current situation of COVID-19, we are going through a very difficult time to continue caring for more than 1,600 people
with cancer and other advanced illnesses in a year.

To try to alleviate this situation, we are going to hold, as part of our “Sunflower Effect” campaign,
our “Walkahome, a walk at home for Cudeca”.

We don’t want anyone to have to spend the last days of their life alone.
This crisis has proven how essential it is to die accompanied and cared for.

We are a non-profit foundation that offers specialised care for people with cancer and other advanced illnesses, and support to their families. Completely free of charge.

Our philosophy is based on the philosophy of palliative care, a field in which we have acquired a great deal of experience and competence, and from which we make our special kind of caring a reality. We not only treat the physical side of the illness, but also the psychological, social and spiritual aspects. In short: we work to ensure that patients feel dignified right up to the last moment.

Our activity began in 1992 thanks to the work and commitment of Joan Hunt. Born in England and settled on the Costa del Sol, after losing her husband to cancer, she decided to dedicate her life to helping others in the same situation. That is why she founded Cudeca.

Today we continue to offer our care completely free of charge to all those who need us. We know that we cannot add more days to patients’ lives, but we do care to add life to their days.

Each year we assist more than 1,600 people and, since 1992, we have cared for more than 17,000 patients with our Multidisciplinary Programmes as Home Care, Day Unit, Hospitalisation Unit, Rehabilitation, Psycho-Social Programme, Counselling and Outpatient Consultation. Our teams of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and physiotherapists take care of every aspect of the patient’s care in detail, respecting their wishes and preferences.  All our care is professional and free of charge.
