On the evening of 25th April, we celebrated our 25th anniversary (1992-2017) of providing specialist palliative care to patients suffering from a non-curable illness.

The celebration concert was held at the Cervantes Theatre, Málaga, with Domi de Postigo, journalist and ambassador of Cudeca, acting as Master of Ceremonies.

Cudeca Founder Joan Hunt with Dr. Marisa Martín, Chief Executive, welcomed more than 700 attendees at the commencement of the evening.  They thanked the community for the support of all those attending, as well as the City of Malaga, the Provincial Council of Malaga, the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Malaga, solidarity artists who have collaborated to make the celebration concert possible.  They stressed that "it is with pride we celebrate 25 years caring for many people at the end of life.  Since 1992 Cudeca has been providing free care to more than 13,000 people thanks to the support of the community. “

The concert commenced with the Provincial Symphonic Orchestra of Málaga, under the direction of Salvador Vázquez, with their interpretation of a selection of Beethoven music; the second part consisting of operatic music with performances by noted soprano Berna Perles, Chilean tenor Rodrigo Orrego and pianist Cristina Alba Padial.

At the conclusion of the concert, the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco De la Torre, expressed his appreciation for the "great work carried out over 25 years by CUDECA" and stressed the "important support of the community and the 900 volunteers who each day help Cudeca to continue taking care of patients".
