On the 16th of April, the Mijas town hall approved the concession €50,000 to subsidize the Cudeca Cancer Care Foundation.
Present at the ceremony was Carmen Marquez, Mijas councilwoman for Social Well-Being and the councilwoman Health Services, Maria del Mar Rios; and on behalf of the Cudeca Foundation, Rafael Olalla, Sub-Director and Financial Director; and Rafael Gomez, responsible for Cudeca's Assistance Programs.
Carmen Marquez stated "this is a commitment our mayor proposed to Cudeca's board members and today it's become a reality. We know the difficulties Cudeca has faced, and the public administrations cannot let these types of vital organizations collapse, especially those that do good in our society, like Cudeca".
At the same time, Maria del Mar Rios highlighted, "in the governing team we feel that it's fundamental that Cudeca continue with it's assistance programs for all our neighboring residents. We will do everything possible, within our reach, to help and support them in any way we can".
Moreover, Rafael Olalla highlighted, "it's the most important contribution ever received from any town hall in our history, and represents around 25% of our forecasted expenses for the present year in Mijas, and we can now confront the year with more tranquility and sustainability.
Furthermore, Rafael Gomez expressed that Cudeca offers multidisciplinary programs such as Home Care, a Day Center, an Inpatient Unit, Rehabilitation and Psycho-Social programs free of charge from the centre for Palliative Care in Benalmadena.
The Cudeca Hospice gives their heartfelt thanks to the Mijas Town Hall its efforts and solidarity.
