One more year, we have taken part in the celebration of the “World Palliative Care Day” on October 14, with the organization of their charity concert "Un Canto a la Vida" at the Unicaja  Maria Cristina Concert Hall.
The concert featured Malaga solo pianist Cristina Alba Padial, who performed her special selection of music from "Around the World in 80 Keys" with compositions by F.Chopin (Paris), L. Van Beethhoven (Bonn), I. Stravinsky (St. Petersburg), C. Debussy (Grenada, Kyoto and Pacific Crossing), Gershwin (Chicago), E. Lecuona (La Habanna) and E. Granados (Madrid).
The event was hosted by master of ceremonies, Domi del Postigo. Present were Susan Hannam, Vice President of Cudeca; Dr. Marisa Martín, Chief Executive & Medical Director; Rafael Olalla, Deputy Chief Executive & Financial Director.  Also present were many representatives from local hospitals, including Dr Javier Seara, Manager of Santa Elena Clinic and Mar Torres, Technical Director for Social Rights of the City Council of Malaga.

This concert was possible with thanks to the invaluable altruistic collaboration of the Unicaja Foundation, Cadena SER, Diario SUR and SUR in English together and the sponsorship of the Las Canteras Foundation.
The World Palliative Care Day, organized by the Global Palliative Care Alliance Committee, aims to raise funds and awareness in the community to ensure that all people around the world have the right to quality care on the final journey of their lives. For this reason, more than 500 Palliative Care Centres held more than 1,000 charity concerts in over 74 countries. This year's global motto is "A Song to Life - Palliative Care eliminates suffering".
Cudeca is proud to be part of this great international event for the eighth time to promote knowledge and support to this humanitarian branch of medicine known as Palliative Care. Health professionals are trained to investigate and find cures for their patients; in palliative medicine, the emphasis is placed on patient care during the final stage of their advanced and non-curable illness, in addition to supporting their families during the illness and also in grief.
This important aspect of medicine has been Cudeca's objective since its conception in 1992. During these years we have treated more than 13,000 patients and built the Palliative Care Centre in Benalmadena. Each year, through our different assistance programs, we care for more than 1,300 patients and their families.
