The 2012 Cudeca Walkathon raises over 20.000€!

On Sunday 20th May, Cudeca held its annual "Walkathon", which brought together over 800 friends of all ages and nationalities, with the aim of raising funds to help the Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice continue to Give Life to Days.
Together, we managed to raise over 20,000€, which will be used to continue offering the Special Kind of Caring to people suffering from advanced and non-curable illnesses and also support to their families. Cudeca offers this cost-free care to the patient and family, thanks to a professional team of physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses and volunteers, all completely free of charge.
The live performances took place all day long with professional Master of Ceremonies, Mel Williams and other renowned artists; Rob Stevens, Mark Connor, Chelsea Warner, Steve Shappelle, Jason Oliver, Julia Méndez and her dance group from the Academy Swing and special guest appearance from the clown Ronald McDonald.
The winning group with the most participants was awarded to the Sunny View Schook in Torremolinos, with 17 students. Their prize included entrances to theme parks, hotel stays and many more.

At the start of the 10km route, the Medical Director of Cudeca, Dr. Marisa Martin, and the Financial Director, Rafael Olalla, were joined on the stage by their guest, Mª Carmen Florido, Counsellor of Health from the Benalmádena Town Hall. An hour later, Cudeca sent off participants on the 5km and 2km routes, thanks to representatives from the Benalmádena Town Hall.
We also enjoyed raffles, face painting for children, bouncy castles, games and activities for children thanks to our Friends from Exploramás, and to all the people involved in providing the public with the delicious paellas.
The award winners for the highest sponsorship went to Kim & Bente Gottlieb with 3.111,51€, who won a 7 night stay at Vilar do Golf (Algarve) for 4 people thanks to Diamond Resorts and also 3 months membership at Boyd’s Fitness Centre - Sunset Beach; in second place was the Association Soroptimist with 1.007€ who won a weekend at the Hotel Don Carlos and a massage at Boyd’s Fitness Centre - Sunset Beach; and finally the 3rd prize went to “The Pub” who raised 876,97€ and won a 2 night stay at the Sunset Beach Hotel and an 1hr facial treatment at the in-house salón for Hair and Beauty treatments.
