On the 25th June, the Rotary Club of Malaga celebrated the "I Huella Awards" during the Gala Charity Dinner in aid of Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice, held at the Hotel Vincci Posada del Patio in Málaga. The aim of this event was to reward individuals and institutions who have left their indelible mark on the society of Malaga.
During the ceremony, prizes were presented to the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Málaga with the Cultural category, represented by the Mayor of Málaga, D. Francisco de la Torre, Patron of the Foundation Palacio de Villalón, Mrs. Joan Hunt, OBE, President and Founder of Cudeca within the Social category, and Mr. Rafael Dominguez, Gor, president of Apparel Mayoral, in the Community development category.
Over 200 guests joined the President of the Rotary Club of Malaga, D. Alejandro Castillejo and his Government team, Ana Lopez Caparrós, Graciela Waen and Ramiro Gago. Present of behalf of the Málaga Town Hall was, Mr. Julio Andrade, Councilor for International Relations, Security and Institutions; Mr. Francisco Pomade, Councilor of Social Rights, Citizenship and Immigration, Ms. Ruth Sarabia, Director of the same areas, D. Damian Caneda, Councilor of Culture, Youth and Sport; Ms. Gema del Corral, Councilor of the District of Málaga. Other good friends of the Rotary Club of Malaga and the Cudeca Hospice, did not want to miss this special evening, such as the renowned Tenor, D. Carlos Alvarez, the Director of Fundación Málaga, D. Pedro Martín Almendros with his wife Fátima and the painter Andrés Mérida.
Joan Hunt, OBE, President and Founder of Cudeca showed her sincerest appreciation for this highly symbolic prize with an emotional speech in which she thanked the Rotary Club of Malaga and the business community of Málaga for their continued support, helping Cudeca to continue Giving Life to Days.
Rotary Club is an organization of professionals and entrepreneurs, who together provide humanitarian service, encourage ethical standards and improve their local, national and international communities with diverse aid programmes; Health, Water, Youth Development communities, a program for entrepreneurs in disadvantaged areas, emergency relief in natural disasters and also their recent project of eradicating polio worldwide.
