Benalmádena, 18th April 2011
The Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice and SUR newspapers joined forces this week, presenting a new range of 100 per cent biodegradable carrier bags for use in the Cudeca shops. Thanks to a 3,000€ donation from Diario SUR and SUR in English, 100.000 bags were made from environmentally friendly potato starch, which are being made available to customers in the 12 charity shops located in different towns all over the Costa del Sol. These bags can be reused and eventually be disposed of knowing that they pose no threat to the environment.
The official presentation took place on 14th April at the SUR offices, where Rocío Torres, Cudeca’s Communications and Fundraising Manager, Rafael Olalla, Finance Director, and Katie O’Neill, Charity Shops Coordinator, met up with Joaquín Cestino, Marketing Director of Prensa Malagueña, and Liz Parry, and Rachel Haynes from the SUR in English team, and were given a guided tour of the multimedia premises in Malaga.
The initiative behind these new bags, is part of our recycling campaign, already effective in our charity shops and they can be purchased for 2 cents per bag.
Cudeca is sincerely grateful to Diario Sur and Sur in English for their continuous generosity and support.
