On 28th July, a charity football match was held in aid of Cudeca between Malaga C.F. and Hamilton Academical F.C. at the Municipal Sports Centre in Arroyo de la Miel.

 

Thanks to the support of the Benalmadena Town Hall and its Sports Council, Málaga C.F, Hamilton Academical F.C., the association of Referees, Civil Protection, Red Cross, National and Local Police, other many volunteers and the public, we managed to raise an impressive 20.700€, which will help to save the In-Patient Unit from its severe financial situation and prevent the possibility of its closure at the end of the year.

 

With these funds, Cudeca can care for a patient in the In-Patient Unit of the centre for 74 days. We are currently unable to meet the expenses of this unit, where we take care of patients in the most difficult and urgent of circumstances. A special unit providing intensive care 24 hours a day to the patient and family via its professional team of physicians, psychologists, nurses and volunteers. All completely free of charge.

Cudeca is extremely appreciative to both Málaga C.F. and Academic Hamilton F.C, for their very generous financial donations to Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice and its “Special Kind of Caring”.

 

The community's response to this sporting event exceeded expectations, with an unprecedented concentration of supporters turning up at the entrance gates, with only a safety capacity of 1.350. On behalf of Cudeca, we wish to thank all the people who came along to support Cudeca, and we wholeheartedly encourage the community to continue helping us to give life to the days of patients who need us our cost-free care.
