Cómpeta's newly formed pantomime group (CAMP) certainly proved it with their highly acclaimed adult version of Cinderella raised a magnificent 5,451.82 euros for charity. The majority of the money will go to support the Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice (4088.82€) with the residual amount (1,362.96€) going to the Sasha Roberts Scholarship Fund based in the UK.
Panto Director Tom Sobel was naturally delighted with the grand total: "We are all absolutely thrilled to have been able to contribute such an amazing sum of money to two such worthwhile causes. This is all due to the generosity of the public, the help from our sponsors and of course the hard work of the panto team."
The 30 strong members of CAMP worked for three months to put the show together, which ran for three noisy, packed nights at the Balcon Hotel in Cómpeta.
Susan Hannam Director of Cudeca was in the audience on Saturday night. She passed on many congratulations to the cast and crew. And added: "You do appreciate that this can't be a one-off. You have started a new venture that has a very bright future. You have the talent, the enthusiasm and your public." This was echoed by Cudeca founder and President Joan Hunt OBE who added her thanks and congratulations to the group and commented "I think the cast are going to stay together for some future productions."
The presentation of the cheque for 4088,82€ will be held on Friday 9th July at 12pm, outside the new Cudeca Counselling Drop in Centre in Nerja which opened in May, at the Lions Club premises on Calle Granada nº 67.
