Sol Classic Car Club Run

The Sol Classic Car Club held their monthly run on Saturday 7th June in support of Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice. All participants met at the ?El Dorado film studios ? Cine Hotel? near Cóin at 11am and set off shortly after.

The idea was to get as many of their friends or associates to sponsor their car to partake in the run, thus raising many funds for Cudeca.  Just like sponsoring a conventional run or walk, or a swim etc, most people have either known someone or been associated with someone lost to cancer and generously donated.

The final meeting point for the cars was the renowned Vista del Mar restaurant in Riviera del Sol who prepared a superb lunch for all participants on their beautiful terrace overlooking the golf course.

Following the lunch a raffle was drawn with some great prizes such as a free dinner for two at the prestigious Lonestar Brasserie in Puerto Banus, a beautiful skin-care products set donated by Peter & Sue Cross of Susan Molyneux, bottles of bubbly and more.  Bob and Carol Livermore won the prize for the best ensemble award (best costume with a Royals Royce Silver Cloud III), and the most desirable classic prize went to Chris Want with an Austin Healy 100.

The day was a huge success bringing in an impressive 3.370 Euros.  This year, funds raised at events will be focused on helping to save the In-Patient Unit. Since opening the Unit in 2005, the financial support received has not covered the high maintenance costs of the unit and as a result could mean possible closure of the Unit by end of 2008.  However if we continue to raise these funds together, the future of the In-Patient Unit looks a lot brighter.
