Maurice Boland and his team of presenters at REM.fm held their 2007 Telethon in aid of Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice on Friday 14th December. More than 120 items had been donated for auction by local companies, individuals and friends. Listeners could view the items in advance on the REM Telethon website, kindly prepared by Neil Waller from www.marbellainfo.com.
The day started at 10am and by lunchtime, the phones were ringing frantically as listeners were putting in their bids. Cudeca volunteers and the REM staff were armed with telephones and credit card machines in anticipation of receiving vast amounts of pledges. The bidding continued through to the following Thursday 20th!
Thanks to all the REM team, Cudeca Volunteers and all those generous bidders, a fantastic total of 70,000 Euros has been raised. This will be put towards paying for the expense of providing the cost-free ?special kind of care? Cudeca give to patients suffering from advanced non-curable cancer. Cudeca care aims to add life to days, even when days cannot be added to life!
